Feature Friday - Mason Metal Designs

Our Featured Artisan this week is Lorrie of Mason Metal Designs.  She has been making metal pieces / jewelry since 1989.

7 years ago she Left her day job to follow her passion for playing with metal full time.

Lorrie fabricates Mixed Metal jewelry using sterling sheet, copper, brass while incorporating recycled objects such as recycled roof flashing & vintage tin.  Her jewelry is called “Romantic Industrial wearable art”.

She treats with heat to create a patina or treated with sulphur to oxidize and age and also cuts and polishes most of the Lapidary (stones).

Her beautiful studio is located in the historic Santella Cigar Factory building in Tampa, Florida.  It is a co-operative of individual artist spaces called the West Tampa Center for the Arts.

If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at metal work, Lorrie has classes available.  Bring a bunch of girls and have some fun!
